Taiwan Operator EBT Chooses SchlumbergerSema Rating Package Solution
for 3G Services
February 19, 2003
SchlumbergerSema announced that Taiwan-based Eastern Broadband
Telecommunications (EBT) has selected the new SchlumbergerSema Rating
Package to support the launch of their wireless 3G services planned
for 2003. The Rating Package is a convergent rating and balance
management solution for voice, data and content. SchlumbergerSema
will also provide consulting and systems integration services to
manage the implementation of the Rating Package into the existing
infrastructure.
"As a 3G operator we have found that the SchlumbergerSema rating
solution completely meets our requirements and provides us with
a strong platform to support the anticipated growth of data and
content services," commented Mr Don Lin, CIO, EBT.
A key functionality of the Rating Package that particularly impressed
EBT is its real time rating capability. As EBT prepares for the
launch of their 3G services and the roll out of higher value transactions,
the ability to rate in real time becomes critical. Real time rating
ensures that subscriber usage is rated immediately according to
the latest tariff plan and marketing promotions. With the convergence
and alignment of services in the 3G space, EBT needed to upgrade
their telecoms infrastructure to be capable of automatically capturing
and billing the individual subscribers on a real-time basis without
human intervention.
