Four new 3G handsets from Motorola
February 11, 2004
American mobile handset maker Motorola has unveiled four new 3G handsets in Beijing that could be available to consumers in the second of the year. The company released three WCDMA handsets last year but the handsets were big in size. The four new models - the A1000, E1000, V1000 and V980 - should help Motorola gain strong hold in the 3G handset market.
The A1000 and E1000 will launch in the second half of the year. The first model is a PDA enabled handset that uses the Symbian 7.0 operating system. It has a 208×320 display with 65,000 colours and also feature a 1.2 megapixel built-in camera. Media files that is supported include MPEG-4, WMV, WMA and MP3.
The E1000 also includes a 1.2 megapixel camera, a 240×320 QVGA screen with 260,000 colours, built-in Bluetooth technology and GPS functionality.
Motorola's V series has been very popular in the past and it is not surprising to see the company releasing the V980 and V1000. Both handsets will be shipped in the first half of 2005. The V980 is aimed at the entry-level market to promote the sales of 3G handsets.
The V1000 is a clamshell designed phone and comes with a 1.2 megapixel camera, a 2.2-inch screen with 260,000 colours, as well as a 1.2-inch 65,000 colour sub-display.
