Powerwave Technologies introduces W-CDMA booster
February 25, 2004
Powerwave Technologies, a supplier in advanced radio frequency power amplifier solutions, announced the launch of a compact, tower mounted booster UMTS TMB-2100. This next generation Radio Frequency Front End is designed specifically for enhancing deployment coverage in markets adopting 3G wireless standards.
The UMTS TMB-2100 incorporates Powerwave's multi-carrier technology with a state-of-the-art, fan-less thermal management system to create a cost effective and zoning friendly UMTS coverage solution. The TMB consists of an integrated Mast Head Unit (MHU) which co-locates transmit power directly behind the antenna to boost transmit and receive signals for up to 6 dB of improved link budget. Twice as efficient as its predecessor and less than half the size and weight, this unit is designed to enable carriers to reduce time to deploy by providing a less obtrusive and highly reliable package.
The new smaller form factor is designed to fit directly behind an existing UMTS panel antenna.
"We believe that the UMTS TMB-2100 will attract strong customer interest due to its innovative high efficiency, fan-less, high reliability design," said Bruce C. Edwards, President and Chief Executive Officer. "Our goal at Powerwave is to continue to leverage our core multi carrier amplifier technology with innovative solutions that offer increasing levels of functionality for our customers."
