DMN selected as network field force for its third UK 3G roll-out

February 29, 2004

Provider of communications network engineering and support services to the global telecoms sector, DMN Installations, has been selected by a major network infrastructure vendor to conduct its forthcoming UMTS network roll-out in the UK for a major 3G operator. This is the third 3G network roll-out in the UK for which DMN has been selected as network field engineers.

This latest deployment is scheduled to begin in Q2 this year and, although details of the contract remain confidential, UMTS installation and commissioning will take place in key cities, remote rural areas, and along certain major highway routes and lines of communication. DMN's work will involve establishment of the Node B base stations and Radio Network Controllers.

DMN's selection as a preferred supplier in the UK follows tender and evaluation trials during 2003. First actual trial installations were undertaken successfully at a UK test bed site during the first half of February, 2004.

This latest contract brings to two, the number of major infrastructure vendors to which DMN is delivering field support services for 3G network installations in the UK, and the third 3G operator network for which it has provided its engineering expertise.

Work is still ongoing on the previous two 3G networks, which began in February 2002 and at the end of 2003, respectively. The company currently has some 150 field engineers and support staff active on 3G and GSM network roll-outs across the United Kingdom.
