LG Lines up Sight for Mobile Eyes
February 21, 2005
Following the successful launch of Push-to-Talk services in the US and Europe, Korean manufacturer LG Electronics has taken the app' a stage further. Last week at the Cannes get-together it was proudly demonstrating its latest service: Push-To-View (PTV) mobile phone technology.
According to LG, the PTV service manages to "Combine networking and multimedia, allowing multiple users to share live video in real time." The service allows users to select people to receive instant video messages at the push of a button. The Korean company points out that PTV also offers functions similar to the Messenger chat engine. It manages user groups, checks reception, selects users for video-conferencing and controls transmission. The package has an invitation function, inviting available users to conference and giving them the option of accepting or not.
M H Park, the CEO of LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company said, "We are very proud to be the first to showcase PTV technology. LG Electronics expects this to become the next killer application, expanding 3G mobile communications services worldwide."
