February 14, 2006

Alcatel announced that it has been selected by Telefonica Moviles Spain to deliver a solution that enables the operator to offer advanced interactive video services to their 3G customers as a national premiere in Spain.

With Alcatel's solution, Telefonica's 3G customers will enjoy a convergent video mailbox service that can play, record and store their video, voice and fax messages in a single mailbox. Thanks to the networks convergence, Alcatel's video mailbox service can manage messages generated from both fixed and mobile devices, and offer completion to all the calls initiated in the telecom network.

"This new contract with a flagship operator in service innovation and convergent communications positions Alcatel as Telefonica Moviles' strategic partner in video applications, which is a key element for the success of future services based on mobile communications," commented Marc Rouanne, Chief Operating Officer of Alcatel's mobile communications activities.

Alcatel's video mailbox and video telephony services are exhibited in Telefonica Moviles booth at 3GSM WC Barcelona (Hall 2 stand E14).
