Vodafone Espana, increases 3G handset sales

February 1, 2007

Vodafone Espana, the Spanish subsidiary of the UK mobile group, saw its revenue increase 12.7 per cent in its third financial quarter (the last three months of 2006), thanks to the increase in its customer base, which grew by 440,000 to 14.4 million. Of this figure, 54.1 per cent had a contract with the operator, while the remaining 45.9 per cent were prepay customers. The average revenue per user was 35.30 euros, 1.10 euros below the figure for the previous quarter.

The operator, which did not provide a specific figure for revenue for its Spanish subsidiary, ended the quarter with a sharp increase in sales of UMTS/3G handsets, up 23.7 per cent, consolidating Vodafone's leadership in the sector.
