Ericsson delivers HSPA mobile platforms to LG Electronics

February 12, 2007

LG Electronics and Ericsson have signed a license agreement for the U360, an advanced mobile platform that is part of Ericsson's HSPA product family, from Ericsson Mobile Platforms.

The U360 platform has the highest level of silicon integration and lowest power consumption in the industry, allowing handset manufacturers to launch ultra-small HSPA phones for the mass market. It provides 3.6Mbps HSDPA and an advanced radio solution with tri-band WCDMA, as well as quad-band EDGE/GPRS, enabling truly global handsets.

Robert Puskaric, head of Ericsson Mobile Platforms, says: "We are very happy that LG Electronics has chosen our U360 mobile platform and decided to extend the successful cooperation between our companies. The choice of the U360 provides LG Electronics with the smallest, most cost-optimized HSPA solution on the market."

Dr Woo-young Kwak, vice president and head of mobile communications R&D, LG Electronics, says: "We are very pleased with the mobile platforms from Ericsson, upon which we have built a number of very successful mobile telephones and helped us to achieve our premier position in the WCDMA market. The U360 platform from Ericsson provides us with very advanced technology, which will allow us to bring feature-rich, small phones to the global mass market."
