French regulator drafts 4th 3G application license
February 21, 2007
French regulator ARCEP has drafted an application procedure for a fourth 3G mobile license.
The proposal, which details the procedures and conditions for authorising a fourth 3G mobile system in Metropolitan France, has been submitted to the Minister Delegate for Industry after a six-week public consultation and a consultation with the Radio Communications Advisory Commission, whose members were officially appointed 7 February.
The regulator expects the issuance of a fourth 3G license to intensify competition in the mobile communications market and stimulating the evolution of services.
ARCEP is now waiting for the minister to launch the application process by publishing the related financial conditions.
