Hi3G sponsors Swedish football and acquires the rights to provide content to mobile terminalsdate: January 16, 2002 Today, Hi3G announced that the company has reached an agreement with ISPR regarding sponsorship of Allsvenskan, Damallsvenskan, Superettan and Svenska Cupen. As part of the agreement Hi3G secures the exclusive rights to provide sports content to mobile phones and wireless devices for all the above series and for the home games of the Swedish National Teams in Football and matches in Sweden in the UEFA cup. Under the agreement, Hi3G will hold the exclusive rights for broadcasting to all mobile technologies including GSM and UMTS from March 2002 until October 2005. These rights will enable Hi3G to provide top-level football content to customers using its 3G services in Sweden. The terms of the agreement was not disclosed. Hi3G’s customers in Sweden will be able to view clips of the matches in the series over the mobile device. The content will include footage of selected goals directly after they have been scored, clips of matches, match commentaries, archive material, still photographs, match results, goal scorers and full fixture listings. Chris Bannister, Managing Director of Hi3G said: “We are putting together a wide range of mobile services for customers. Sport content is one out of many areas where we put in efforts since we believe that our customers will enjoy to get closer to his or hers favourite teams via the mobile terminal. Football is one of Sweden’s most popular sports and our future brand name will benefit from being associated with this positive force.”
