Orange Sverige presents music prototype for the 3G marketdate: January 23, 2002 Orange Sverige, together with Compaq, BMG Sweden and IBM e-business Innovation Centre, has developed a music prototype for the 3G market. Orange Sverige today unveils a new music service prototype for the 3G market. The prototype operates as a personal jukebox as well as a music encyclopaedia enabling customers to listen to, search and exchange music content including voice, video and text content. With this prototype, music fans can set their own personal profile, check out music related information, organise their music collection using play lists – or use other features like chat, radio and “tip a friend”. This prototype is an example of the next stage in the evolution of wireless music services. A market test on several focus groups at the end of 2001 showed a strong positive reception of the concept. It is Orange Sverige’s intention to make this music prototype available for the Swedish market at its 3G launch. Jerry Huxtable, COO for Orange Sverige AB says: ”The launch of this prototype demonstrates our commitment to work with partners in developing cutting edge services in areas that interest our customers. In the next few years Orange will continue to develop a wide range of services in areas as divergent as business solutions and entertainment, enabling our customers to take full advantage of the 3G technology”. Orange Sverige has been responsible for the concept, architecture and design of the prototype, while IBM has been responsible for developing the service. BMG Sweden has contributed with know-how from the music industry and music content, while Compaq has supplied the project with the hardware as well as expertise in demonstrating the possibilities of future 3G handsets.
