Anritsu announces three expansion units to add W-CDMA capability to its digital modulation signal generatordate: January 30, 2002 Anritsu has introduced three new expansion units for use with its MG3681A digital modulation signal generator - the MU368030A universal modulation unit; the MU368060A AWGN unit; and the MU368010A TDMA modulation unit. The MG3681A can output the various reference modulation signals in the frequency range from 250 kHz to 3 GHz, as required for R&D, manufacturing and testing of mobile communications equipment and related devices. The output reference signals are very accurate, with very high stability and extremely low jitter. The signal generator's main unit has seven slots, in which the various expansion units are installed. When the expansion units and software are installed, the system can generate modulation signals for 3GPP W-CDMA (DC-CDMA FDD), AWGN, 3GPP2, cdma2000 (1x/EV-DO), cdmaOne, PDC, PHS, EDGE, GSM (GPRS) and NADC. The combination of the MU368030A Universal Modulation Unit and MX368031A Device Test Signal Generation software allows the unit to generate the above signals. In 3GPP systems it is necessary to perform a dynamic range test by superimposing an AWGN signal on the desired modulation signal, in order to evaluate the receiver. When the MU368060A is installed in the MG3681A, it can be used as both an AWGN signal source and to add a W-CDMA signal and AWGN signal to the signal generator, meeting a wide range of needs. The MU368010A TDMA Modulation Unit is used with the PDC software and GSM Device Test software to output modulation signals for second-generation mobile communications systems. It is backwards compatible with the functions and operations of previous instruments and includes a real-time coding function for editing various parameters.
