ADC to provide UMTS Performance Management to O2 Germany
January 28, 2004
ADC announced that O2 Germany has extended its existing implementation of the Metrica NPR system to monitor its UMTS network.
Metrica will help O2 manage its network quality by providing a reliable understanding of network availability, utilization, delays and other key network performance indicators. Using this information, O2 can identify and correct network problems before they affect service.
"Metrica is the most widely used performance management solution for wireless networks worldwide," said David Heaps, senior vice president of ADC's Software Systems Business Unit and general manager of its Metrica group. "Metrica is a proven solution for next-generation networks, and we're pleased to be working with O2 on UMTS."
Metrica products are specifically designed for telco-class performance management and have been successfully deployed by more than 180 operators worldwide across a wide range of network technologies. These technologies include GSM, CDMA, GPRS, UMTS and most other wireless network technologies, Circuit Switched Voice, SDH/SONET Transmission, Voice Messaging System (VMS), Signaling System No. 7 (SS7), Intelligent Network (IN), ATM, Frame Relay, and IP.
