X-TEL releases Nokia 6630 test interface for Xi system

January 16, 2005

X-TEL Communications, a provider of engineering test systems and services for the wireless industry, announced the release of the Nokia 6630 GSM/EDGE/WCDMA test interface for its popular Xi drive testing solution. Xi includes the capability to perform in-building and drive testing data collection for voice, data and video applications. The data collected with the Nokia 6630 can be combined with X-TEL's tri-band GSM/WCDMA instrument grade scanner for post processing in X-TEL's industry leading Rush Street analysis tool.

The Nokia 6630 test mobile supports 900/1800 MHz GSM and 2100 MHz WCDMA networks and includes advanced testing features such as the ability to lock onto a specific band and technology, channel/Scrambling Code forcing and cell barring manipulation.

"The Nokia 6630 subscriber phone is one of the most popular 3G phones being sold by European and Asian operators. X-TEL is proud to be one of the first to offer leading edge drive test solutions based on Nokia's 6630 3G mobile phone," said James Richie, CEO of X-TEL. "X-TEL now supports more than 40 test phones and scanners to ensure that the operators are testing the networks with the phones actually used in the networks."

The Nokia 6630 3G mobile is supported by X-TEL's Xi Direct PC Connect system that is a software based solution with GPS running on Tablet or conventional PCs. Xi supports sixteen devices running simultaneously to include various test phones and dedicated scanners across technologies. The Direct PC Connect system can be expanded to include Host Controller Units, distributed processing and X-TEL's XQi PESQ MOS scoring for comparing networks or technologies. X-TEL's Xi Autonomous platform also fully supports stationary and mobile probes configured with the Nokia 6630 test mobile.
