Sierra Wireless EV-DO module in HP business notebooks

January 5, 2006

Sierra Wireless announced that the Sierra Wireless MC5720 EV-DO PCI Express Mini Card embedded module is to supply mobile broadband connectivity to the new HP Compaq nc6140 Notebook PC.

With the integration of Sierra Wireless Mini Card modules, AirCard Enabled HP notebooks allow mobile professionals to quickly and conveniently access email and corporate information while on the go, including large attachments and data-intensive online applications. With wide area wireless connectivity on an EV-DO network, busy professionals can work productively within cellular coverage areas - from a client site, park bench, or even the back of a taxi - without spending valuable time looking for hotspots.

"We are pleased to collaborate with HP in bringing the power of AirCard Enabled EV-DO connectivity to their business notebook product line," said Dan Schieler, Senior Vice President, Worldwide Sales for Sierra Wireless. "Embedded mobile broadband links supported by Sierra Wireless technology offer a level of convenience and simplicity that we think customers will find to be a compelling way to improve their productivity outside the office."

"Working with experienced providers such as Sierra Wireless, HP delivers another high-quality product to our notebook customers with the new HP Compaq nc6140 Notebook PC," said Carol Hess-Nickels, Director of Commercial Notebook Marketing, HP. "Sierra Wireless has extensive experience in integrating wide area wireless connections into notebook PCs and provided integration and certification support services to help us deliver an on-time product to our customers."
