Hisense selects NetFrontbrowser for 3G TD-SCDMA handsets

January 12, 2006

As China prepares to roll-out its 3G digital phone service, ACCESS, a provider of mobile content delivery and Internet access technologies, announced that Hisense Communication (HCC), a handset manufacturer in China, has selected ACCESS' NetFrontMobile Client Suite for deployment in its Hisense HT28, a trial handset for TD-SCDMA networks. HT28 is a dual-mode (TD-SCDMA/GPRS) handset which has deployed NetFrontMobile Client Suite including ACCESS' NetFrontbrowser, MMS client, JV-Lite2 Java virtual machine and POP3/SMTP client.

TD-SCDMA is the Chinese home grown 3G standard among the three international 3G standards. The on going TD-SCDMA pre-commercial tests will have a direct impact on the development and commercial operation of 3G in China, so the tests are being watched closely by many leading handsets vendors both in China and abroad. The NetFrontMobile Client Suite supports the latest OMA Browsing 2.2 specification and W3C specifications, delivering a full Internet browsing experience.

ACCESS' NetFrontMobile Client Suite is a tightly integrated, modular and comprehensive software solution. The NetFrontbrowser is the first browser deployed over commercial 3G networks. The NetFrontMobile Client Suite has been widely deployed in WCDMA and CDMA2000 handsets and it is also a preferred data solution for TD-SCDMA terminals.

"Hisense Communications has a strong competitive edge in handset technology development, and we are pleased to collaborate with Hisense to support the TD-SCDMA pre-commercial test," said Toru Arakawa president and CEO of ACCESS. "ACCESS has successfully cooperated with numerous 3G mobile operators worldwide, and we are pleased to share our expertise with domestic operators and handset vendors to contribute to the development of the TD-SCDMA industry."
