SFR reach 1 million 3G subscriber milestone
January 15, 2006
French mobile operator SFR has broken the one million 3G subscribers mark. As of 9 January 2006, SFR had 1,060,000 3G customers and the operator expects to have 2.5 million 3G users by the end of 2006.
SFR is seeking to build its 3G client base to generate more revenue per user. The company reported higher than average 3G usage in December, with 340,000 musical downloads and 1.2m video calls during the month. SFR has over 20,000 clients for its mobile TV service, which offers 26 channels from Canalsat.
SFR's 3G network currently covers around 60 per cent of the French population.
