Half of Taiwanese unclear about 3G

January 16, 2006

A survey of the Taiwanese mobile market highlighted that more than half of those surveyed were not clear what 3G services offered. The survey from market consulting firm InsightXplorer indicated that 98% of the 400 surveyed have heard about 3G but only 47.0% really understand what 3G services offer.

Those who were surveyed were aware of 3G services such as video calls and mobile TV mainly through advertising.

The survey also noted that 97% were aware of number portability but only 38.75% were willing to change from their current operator to other providers through number portability.
