Huawei wins national-wide 3G WCDMA contract in Indonesia

January 23, 2006

Huawei Technologies announced that it has won the WCDMA contract of Indonesia's mobile operator Natrindo Telepon Selular ("NTS"). Huawei is selected as NTS' preferred & sole vendor to construct NTS' unified 3G/2G softswitch core networks, intelligent service platforms and IP backbone networks in Indonesia. The whole nation, except Djakarta, will be seamlessly covered by Huawei's Node B system.

Mr. Kusnadi Sukarja, CEO of NTS, commented, "In the process of vendor selection, Huawei has demonstrated its powerful technological capabilities, excellent product portfolio and advanced 3G network deployment capabilities.

"Selecting Huawei as our 3G network full service supplier is NTS' significant step to bring the fastest and highest quality 3G multimedia communications to Indonesian customers," Mr. Sukarja continued.

Mr. Wang Shengli, President of Huawei's Asia Pacific Region, said "Huawei is very pleased to build a high-quality and highly-efficient 3G network for NTS and help NTS to become a leading 3G service operator in Indonesia."

"Huawei looks forward to a close and successful cooperation with NTS. Huawei's softswitch core network supports IP switch and transmission, simultaneous 2G & 3G access and IMS integration, thereby fully meets NTS' requirements to further its business development." Mr. Wang continued.

As of January 2006, Huawei has won 18 WCDMA commercial contracts in the world.
