Teligent and Cisco addresses mobile operator market

January 26, 2006

Teligent, a Cisco Registered Partner, announces a Cisco enabled turn-key solution called IP-Services Charging Node (ICN).

The Cisco enabled ICN from Teligent is the ideal turn-key solution for Mobile Operators seeking to apply advanced and flexible charging methods for mobile data traffic based not only on data volume and connection time, but also on events and the actual value a service brings to the subscriber.

The Teligent solution covers both Prepaid and Postpaid billing within mobile networks from 2.5G through to 3G. The solution is easily interfaced with incumbent voice prepaid and billing systems so that operators can maintain their previous investments while adding a system that properly manages revenue contributions from data transactions. This superior Cisco enabled solution has been developed by Teligent who understand the complexities and level of sophistication required to deliver and charge for wireless services in the border area between IP and Telecom networks.

The IP-Services Charging Node consists of the Cisco Content Service Gateway (CSG), a specialized card designed for the Cisco 7600 high capacity router, and the Teligent Real-Time Charging Gateway, an application handling real-time rating and charging on any chargeable event as well as the integration to any legacy prepaid, billing and CRM systems. By combining these modules a complete end-to-end solution from the subscriber's handset to the operator's prepaid system can be guaranteed. As a result, the operator will experience no revenue leakage while still being able differentiate rating and charging for mobile data traffic to meet new demands of the growing mobile data market.

"This partnership further strengthens Teligent's position within the mobile data and mobile prepaid segment" says Pekka Peltola, CEO and President of Teligent. "I see great opportunities for this collaboration since we already have delivered this turnkey IP charging solution in several growth markets, to customers that supported more than 60 million subscribers at the end of 2005."

Teligent's deliveries are based on the patented middleware platform, Teligent P90/E, which separates network signalling, service execution and presentation to end-users. It is based on IP technology and adapted for use in a wide variety of networks, from traditional fixed and mobile networks to the emerging market of VoIP based next generation networks. The Teligent P90/E is used in various configurations by a large number of leading carriers in the international telecommunications market, including BT, Cingular, MCI, Telefónica, TeliaSonera, and the Vodafone group.
