QUALCOMM and SIM Technology Group, an independent handset design company headquartered in China, announced that the companies have entered into a commercial modem card license agreement. Under the terms of the royalty-bearing agreement, QUALCOMM has granted SIM Tech a worldwide license under its CDMA patent portfolio to develop, manufacture and sell certain 3G (including WCDMA) modem card products. The royalties payable by SIM Tech are at QUALCOMM's standard rates.
"SIM Tech will now be able to expand their product portfolio to include advanced 3G wireless solutions that enable users to be connected and mobile, giving them access to necessary applications wherever they may be," said Marvin Blecker, president of QUALCOMM Technology Licensing.
"This license agreement with QUALCOMM will enable us to offer solutions that will keep business professionals connected on the go, increasing their productivity and allowing them to be more efficient," said Raymond Tsang, executive vice president and chief executive officer of SIM Technology Group.
SIM Technology Group is an independent handset design house in China with core business in design and development of high-performance multimedia mobile handsets.
