TELUS expands 3G service

January 18, 2007

TELUS announced the expansion of its Wireless High Speed service to Bathurst, Florenceville, Fredericton, Moncton, Saint John, Coldbrook, Kentville, Halifax, Truro, New Glasgow, Stellarton, Sydney, North Sydney, Wolfville, Charlottetown and St. John's, offering clients mobile access to the Internet, e-mail and other multimedia applications at broadband-like download speeds similar to desktop Internet access at home.

"By uniting the broadband-like download speed of our Wireless High Speed service with the newest portable communications devices, TELUS is providing clients with the most powerful mobile data and entertainment solutions available," said Robert Blumenthal, TELUS senior vice-president of Products and Services.

With typical download speeds of approximately 400 to 700 kilobits per second, and maximum possible speeds of more than 2 megabits per second, TELUS Wireless High Speed service offers clients the speed they need for powerful mobile computing and exciting SPARK mobile entertainment applications like TELUS Mobile TV, TELUS Mobile Radio, and TELUS Mobile Music. Wireless High Speed is based on the CDMA 1xEVDO standard, a 3G wireless data technology.

TELUS Wireless High Speed now reaches more than half of Canadians, with service available in Vancouver, Victoria, Whistler, Calgary, Edmonton, Grand Prairie, Fort McMurray, Lethbridge, Lloydminster, Medicine Hat, Red Deer, Winnipeg, Toronto, Ontario's Golden Horseshoe, Niagara and Muskoka regions, Ottawa, Montreal, Mont-Tremblant, St. Jovite and Quebec City. The company expects to continue to expand Wireless High Speed to other regions throughout 2007.
