China 3G investment to decrease

January 25, 2007

The investment in China's 3G services is likely to decrease to USD 2.6 billion from an estimated USD 4.7 billion due to the country's delayed release of 3G licenses, according to the world's largest global financial service firm UBS.

Presently, China's mobile phone users have touched 455 million and about 80 million are willing to try this advanced services. However, they have no other choice but to wait until the 2008 Olympics.

Meanwhile, a large number of domestic and foreign mobile phone manufactures will be the first victims of the delay.

Currently, the nation's 3G network has run into operation in some big cities and the operators have promised to supply a complete services from now.

According to experts, the operators may first get a limited 3G license before 2008.
