Cambia Announces First Open 3G CDMA Packet Data System for Bridging Mobile Devices to the Internetdate: July 12, 2001 - source: Cambia Networks Cambia Networks announced the availability of the first open wireless data access platform for 3G. This new category of network infrastructure systems will transform the way wireless carriers and network service providers bridge mobile data networks to the Internet. The Cambia 3G CDMA Packet Data System 1.0 will enable wireless carriers and network service providers to efficiently offer 3G data services over public wireless networks to mobile devices, including cellular phones, PDAs, and notebook computers. Cambia's newly released 3G CDMA data access gateway system exceeds performance measures of current product offerings by an average of five times the density. The packet data system is the essential component in a carrier's core network that will be the platform for establishing (3G) next generation profitability. Capabilities of Cambia's system include comprehensive subscriber management, service differentiation, and mobility management. In addition, the system will also enable crucial emerging 3G data infrastructure services such as caching, firewall security, and effective network management for mobile network service providers and carriers. Cambia is announcing its product's availability on Linux and the IBM eServer xSeries to enable high-bandwidth data services and applications for 3G. The company is the first to use an innovative horizontal approach that combines software, operating system, and computing platform to help carriers solve pivotal and costly issues such as central office operating expenses, wireless data subscriber management, and timely technology upgrades for meeting subscriber demands.
