BT Wireless reportedly in Dutch 3G network sharing talksdate: July 23, 2001 - source: BT Wireless is actively promoting the rollout of just two 3G networks between the five licensed operators in the Netherlands. According to the Wall Street Journal BT chief executive Peter Erskine has been quoted as stating that all five Dutch operators are working towards the deployment of just two networks to reduce infrastructure costs. The Dutch government has already ratified 3G infrastructure-sharing proposals but has stipulated that there must be a minimum of two networks to comply with competition rules. Other European countries that have so far permitted network sharing include Sweden and Germany. In June T-Mobile International and BT Wireless agree on cooperation for building UMTS networks in Germany and the United Kingdom.
