Artesyn Communication Products Teams with Motorola to Build High-Performance 3G Wireless Solutionsdate: July 24, 2002 Artesyn Communication Products, a supplier of modular communication boards and software, today announced it is collaborating with Motorola to give OEMs and service providers flexible, high-performance interface solutions for their 3G wireless infrastructure. The result of the collaboration: a new line of Artesyn WAN I/O hardware and software featuring the Motorola C-5 Network Processor (NP). Using the CompactPCI Packet-Switching Backplane (cPSB) standard form factor, the boards will provide the OC-3/STM-1 interfaces used to bridge Asynchronous Transfer Mode (ATM) and IP networks. As a result, this product line will be ideal for CDMA and UMTS architectures, as well as other 3G wireless applications. John Bednarek, director of business development for Motorola's C-Port Network Processor Family, said, "Our fully programmable C-5 NP complements Artesyn's core technologies and expertise, enabling rapid development of advanced solutions for key markets such as 3G wireless equipment."
