UK 3G rollouts get even tougherdate: July 25, 2002 The UK government has now published an amendment to the Telecommunications Transmitters (Restrictions on Planning Applications) Act 2002, which enables local planning authorities to refuse planning permission for a 3G cell site tower if planning permission has been previously declined. The planning decision will stand for up to five years. The changes to the law have been said to speed planning control decisions and will cause serious headaches for operators who apply for a 3G base station on a site previously considered by the local authority but rejected by the local authorities.
