Ericsson Selects Icewrx Sport Solution For Major 3G Global Trialdate: July 31, 2002 Icewrx, a wireless services provider, has been chosen by Ericsson to showcase its innovative sports information application as part of Ericsson’s world-wide 3G trials this July. The application, called HiveSPORTS was developed through Icewrx’s Australian R&D arm. It is one of only a small number of applications that will be demonstrated by Ericsson across the globe over the next few months to 45 major network operators. “We are very excited by the opportunity to showcase our application as we believe it demonstrates how mobile services will be delivered to the consumer with 3G,” said Andrew Braun, Director of Marketing at Icewrx Inc. Underlying HiveSPORTS is the HIVE Intelligent Wireless Neighbourhood System. The Australian Olympic Committee, at the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City, utilized it earlier this year to provide Australian Olympians with the ability to send and receive email, view streaming video, and obtain updates on Olympic activities via Compaq iPAQ mobile handheld devices. The Hive SPORTS system being demonstrated for the 3G trials will allow the user to automatically download a full range of sport-related services, applications and content. The solution will be personalized to the user; so that they will only receive the information they want thereby removing the need to search. It will allow the viewing of instant video replays, real-time player stats and scores, allow users to purchase collectible merchandise, play multiplayer games and chat amongst friends.
