3Australia signs deal with Allphones
July 13, 2003
Hutchison Telecoms has signed an agreement with mobile phone retailer
Allphones to distribute 3Australia through Allphones stores in Adelaide,
Perth, Brisbane and Sydney.
Allphones, an independent mobile phone retailer with over 13 years experience,
will begin selling 3Australia in participating stores in Adelaide and
Perth.
Hutchison Telecoms CEO Kevin Russell said the agreement with Allphones
was sparked by the strong customer response to 3Australia since launch
in Melbourne and Sydney in mid-April.
“We are very pleased with the customer response to the first phase of
our launch, in Melbourne and Sydney,” Mr Russell said.
“As we now move into phase two, we are intent on ensuring we have strong
distribution to satisfy the customer demand we expect in Perth, Adelaide
and Brisbane.
The retail strength of Allphones will add to the flagship presence of
our 3Australia shops network and our growing dealership reach,” he said.
Allphones will distribute 3Australia through 16 stores in Adelaide and
19 stores in Perth from July followed by another 12 stores in Sydney from
September.
CEO of Allphones, Tony Mitchell said his company was pleased to strike
up the relationship with 3Australia. "We think 3G represents the next
big opportunity in the mobiles market and we are glad to be on board with
the first 3G operator in Australia" Mr Mitchell said.
"Allphones is committed to opening our first stores in Queensland by
September as evidence of our belief in the growth in the market being
stimulated by the 3G technology". Mitchell added.
This week 3Australia shops will be open in Sydney, Melbourne, Perth,
Adelaide, Brisbane and the Gold Coast. Orange dealerships operate in Melbourne
and Sydney. 3Australia will be sold by Strathfield Car Radio stores in
Sydney, Melbourne, Perth and Adelaide. In Brisbane, Strathfield operates
under the brand Brisbane Car Sound. Allphones stores will sell 3Australia
in Adelaide, Perth, Brisbane and Sydney.
