The availability of its free cellular subscriber forecasts (1991-2007)

July 20, 2003

The Research Room has updated its free forecasts of cellular subscribers for 77 countries around the world. The forecasts contain country-based historical subscriber numbers back to 1991 plus forecasts to 2007. The forecasts are among the first to look beyond the publicly available numbers and attempt to measure the actual number of active users of the public mobile and cellular services.

The forecasts are developed through the use of a very comprehensive forecast model, and the past results speak for themselves. When comparing the actual vs forecast numbers for year-end 2002 from The Research Room's original forecast file, the results were out by only 0.28% - which is a very impressive result considering the huge number of factors that can effect adoption rates of cellular services.

"These forecasts are a very useful tool for all type of organisations - from the mobile operators themselves to anyone interested in selling to the mobile phone subscribers or the other companies in the cellular market," said Tim Sheedy, Managing Director at The Research Room. "They are provided for free because at The Research Room, we believe the real value of forecasts is in the interpretation as to what these numbers mean to the company - not in the simple presentation of the numbers. And the strategic analysis of the forecasts along with the development of complex forecasts for new products and services is what we do best."
