Swisscom deploys Metrica for UMTS network management

July 8, 2004

ADC announced that Swisscom Mobile, Switzerland's wireless operator, has selected ADC's Metrica Performance Manager software for its UMTS network which is scheduled to be launched later this year. Swisscom Mobile has more than 3.7 million customers, covers 99.7% of the Swiss population.

"We've had a very good experience using Metrica for our GSM and GPRS networks, and, most recently, the solution has given us the performance edge we need to help grow the largest wireless public LAN network in Europe and to enhance our Wi-Fi service," said Robert Marro, head of network performance management for Swisscom Mobile. "… the Metrica solution in terms of ease of maintenance, customization and administration, together with enhanced features such as the report writing facility, will provide us with the right level of flexibility and scalability to support a fast-evolving infrastructure such as our new UMTS network."

"By providing Swisscom with a next-generation performance management solution, we can support their business now and provide the flexibility necessary to adapt to future UMTS service requirements simply and cost-effectively," said David Heaps, senior vice president and general manager of the Metrica group of the Software Systems Business Unit for ADC.
