20-watt power amplifier for CDMA 450MHz base stations

July 26, 2004

Unity Wireless Corporation, a developer of integrated wireless subsystems and power amplifiers, announced that it has introduced a new 20-watt power amplifier designed for use in CDMA 450MHz base stations, and that the new amplifier passed initial system qualification tests by U.S.-based interWAVE Communications International.

Rick Byrd, Unity's Director of Sales, commented, "We are pleased to introduce a product designed for CDMA 450MHz networks and are delighted to be working with interWAVE on their base station requirements. We see significant potential in the CDMA 450MHz market."

CDMA 450MHz networks can be attractive to network operators offering analogue wireless service for rural and lower capacity applications within the 450MHz spectrum. These operators can use CDMA 450MHz networks to upgrade to 3G digital wireless service without obtaining access to additional spectrum.

"Unity's 450MHz product passed our initial system qualification tests and could fulfill the power amplifier requirements of our CDMA 450MHz product offering," stated Mr. Lars Lindell, Vice President and General Manager of interWAVE Communications International's CDMA Group.
