3 announces two new Sony Ericsson handsets

July 19, 2006

As part of a global agreement with the 3 Group, mobile media company 3UK announces two new 3G handsets from Sony Ericsson, the K610i and K800i. Both new Sony Ericsson handsets have a range of advanced features, allowing consumers to take advantage of 3's market-leading mobile media services.

Each handset features the distinctive 3 Instant Viewer, giving up-to-the minute access to the latest news, music, TV, games, videos and other media services.

In addition, the K800i is the first Cyber-Shot phone with a powerful 3.2 megapixel main camera with Xenon flash, auto-focus and powerful imaging software. The K800i also has 'BestPic™' technology allowing you to take 9 high resolution photos in a second and image stabilizer, opening up a world of photography to the user. The K800i also allows customers one-touch access to 3's exclusive music player and store through a dedicated hardkey, and offers Bluetooth stereo streaming, allowing users to enjoy music wirelessly in stereo.

The K610i is an upgrade for the popular K608i model and is twenty percent smaller than its predecessor at 17mm in depth. For such a lightweight phone the K610i is packed with advanced features, including a 2 megapixel camera and Bluetooth stereo streaming. The handset is equipped with an external memory slot, so users have the possibility to store lots of music, pictures and videos.

Marc Allera, Sales Director at 3, commented: "These two new Sony Ericsson handsets are an important addition to 3's leading handset portfolio. Both handsets make the most of 3's mobile media services whether you're watching mobile TV, downloading a music track or surfing the internet. 3 offers consumers unbeatable price plans with content as standard, the most talked-about services and the widest choice of 3G handsets."

Magnus Anseklev, Vice President, Global Customer Unit Hutchison, of Sony Ericsson said: "We have reached a global deal with Hutchison and we are proud to be one of their preferred business partners. By offering these two new handsets together with 3 we are bringing handsets with unique features to the UK market enabling the consumer to take advantage of true media services."
