Pannon expands 3G coverage in Hungry

July 20, 2006

As a result of fast-paced network development, Pannon is offering high bandwidth enabled by its 3G network and the associated videophone services in five new cities including Debrecen, Siófok, Tatabánya and from end-July also in Nyíregyháza and Kecskemét. Joining Budapest, Gyor, Szombathely, Székesfehérvár, Pécs, Szeged and Miskolc, the above five cities now have a large-bandwidth 3G mobile phone system to improve existing mobile broadband services.

With concentrated development efforts, Pannon boasts the largest mobile broadband coverage in Hungary: its collaborating EDGE and a 3G UMTS networks will be accessible for 85% of Hungary's population by end-July and their coverage is being expanded on an ongoing basis. The mobile broadband network covering an increasing portion of Hungary enables much faster mobile Internet. Higher-rate transmission improves the speed of multimedia messaging, WAP access to information, mobile videos, (live) television programmes, downloadable music titles and new services raising the quality of corporate voice and data communication to a new level. In Pannon's selection of mobile broadband-capable handsets every customer can find a mobile phone best suiting his/her needs. Videophone services are supported by about 10 models.

Customers can test the potential of mobile broadband by using the WAP and MobilTV services offered by Pannon at summer weekends free of charge.
