Ericsson Demonstrates CDMA2000 1xEV-DO at 3G CDMA World Congressdate: June 12, 2001 - source: Ericsson demonstrates high-speed packet data services with its industry leading CDMA2000 and Wireless LAN (WLAN) solutions at the CDMA World Congress in Hong Kong . Showcasing mobile IP capabilities for wireless networks, Ericsson's CDMA2000 1xEV solution illustrates how CDMA operators can efficiently and cost effectively deliver 3G mobile Internet services to their customers. Ericsson's CDMA2000 1xEV-DO solution will support such 3G applications as streaming audio, video and data transfers. Offering peak data rates up to 2.4 Mbps in a standard 1.25 MHz carrier, with a minimum average throughput of 600 Kbps, Ericsson's CDMA2000 1xEV-DO solution is fully compliant with IS-856. It can be simply added to existing CDMA2000 radio base stations or overlaid on an existing CDMA network, enabling operators to provide customers with highspeed mobile Internet capabilities while efficiently utilizing radio spectrum. "Ericsson is committed to the evolution of CDMA2000 and to helping operators supply the most advanced mobile Internet services to their customers," said Ake Persson, president of Ericsson CDMA Systems. "In order to meet critical operator requirements for advanced services, Ericsson offers a highly scaleable and flexible CDMA2000 product line." Ericsson's CDMA2000 1xEV demonstration also includes a complementary access service with Wireless LAN (WLAN). The multi-access hand-offs between 1xEV-DO and WLAN enable the end-user to have an "always best connected" experience when working in local environments such as airports and conference centers. The end-user will experience the maximum benefits of both technologies, ensuring seamless mobility with secure connections and the highest data rates possible.
