2001 UMTS World Congress will be the biggest everdate: June 30, 2001 - source: The event orgainistise from UMTS World Congress told 3G Newsroom more speakers and exhibitors have confirmed their participation than ever before including NTT DoCoMo, Vodafone and Hutchison 3G to name a few. The largest 3G event is due to start on the 17th-19th October 2001 at Palau Sant Jordi, Barcelona, Spain. Three months ago the event was putted in doubt when vendors got together trying to boycott this year's event over ticket allocation and stand price. At the last event there was a disrupted over tickets when exhibitors and speakers were refused free tickets to the event. Already 121 leading opinion-formers from 21 countries have confirmed that they will be speaking at the event that is organised by IBC, part of Informa Group. Among the speakers already confirmed are some of the biggest names in the 3G world. The vendor community has also shown its support by confirming seven speakers from Motorola, Siemens, Ericsson and Nokia at the time of this release. The world's largest 3G specific exhibition, which will run alongside the conference, is currently 75% sold out with 89 exhibiting companies confirmed. Bernd Eylert, Chairman, UMTS Forum said: "There is no better place to find out what's really important in UMTS and 3G right now, with a focus on quality contributions in the conference hall plus an exhibition showcasing the best in 3G solutions."
