Allgon awarded major 3G-repeater agreement in Asiadate: June 1, 2002 Allgon, a supplier of radio-based infrastructure solutions, has been appointed 3G repeater supplier for a UMTS network in Hong Kong by an international mobile operator. The agreement is the first of its kind, including extensive use of repeaters at an early stage of a UMTS network deployment. The contract confirms Allgon’s position as a leading supplier of infrastructure for third generation networks. “It is a major agreement showing the benefit and the cost efficiency of repeaters used as an integrated part of the network extension”, said Jeff Bork, CEO Allgon. Allgon repeater-based technology is a very competitive and cost effective solution in demanding radio environments, typical of the Hong Kong area. The Hong Kong network must manage extremely dense populations in restricted areas, and also meet the challenges of geographical obstacles such as high buildings and mountanious terrains. ”The contract shows our potential on the huge Asian mobile market, confirming Allgon’s position as a global supplier”, continued Jeff Bork. According to the agreement, which is valid for two years, Allgon will start supplying 3G network repeaters in June.
