Lucent Supplies Equipment to TELUS Mobility To Support National 1X Wireless Network Launch In Canadadate: June 3, 2002 Lucent Technologies said today it has supplied 3G mobile network infrastructure to TELUS Mobility as it launches next-generation mobile wireless Internet services across Canada. TELUS Mobility said today it had launched its next-generation 1X wireless network and a new 1X mobile computing solution called Velocity Wireless, providing clients across Canada with faster and more convenient mobile access to the Internet and to corporate networks. Using CDMA2000 1X equipment from Lucent, TELUS Mobility will be able to offer its customers mobile Internet services, including secure mobile access to corporate applications such as e-mail and intranets, at speeds of up to 153 kbps, nearly 10 times faster than what is available on second-generation networks. Under the terms of an existing multi-million dollar agreement, Lucent has provided TELUS Mobility with the equipment, software and services to enhance its network and strengthen its digital footprint in central and eastern Canada.
