Generic Media Expands Support to NTT DoCoMo's FOMA Video Streaming Servicedate: June 13, 2002 Generic Media, creators of technology and services for the digital media industry and its Japanese subsidiary, Generic Media K.K., announced that its digital media transformation and delivery platform, Generic Media Publishing Service, will now support the V-Live Trial Service, NTT DoCoMo's FOMA video streaming service. By supporting the V-Live Trial Service, the Generic Media Publishing Service will enable content publishers to deliver media easily to NTT DoCoMo's 3G FOMA phones. "Digital media is very important for FOMA, the 3G mobile communication standard that our company provides," said Dr. Mitsuru Kodama, Senior Manager, Mobile Multimedia Division, NTT DoCoMo, Inc. "Generic Media's technology eases the burden for content providers as they increase the number of targeted media delivery devices. By having this technology support V-Live, I expect significantly more content to be available for the FOMA phones." The V-Live Trial Service which NTT DoCoMo announced on April 25, 2002, offers video streaming to FOMA 3G cell phones equipped with 3G-324M videoconferencing. Content providers using the Generic Media Publishing Service will now be able to broaden their audience reach by easily extending digital media delivery to cell phone users all through a single master file and unified platform. Japan has quickly introduced the third generation cell phone and I believe the demand for streaming content will continue to increase," said Jim Martin, President and CEO of Generic Media.
