J-Phone's 3G to roam abroad

J-Phone is set to demand from its suppliers that the 3G phones they provide must be compatible in countries where a 3G service has yet to be launched.

The mobile operator will ensure its 3G models are compatible with GSM so that they continue to operate in Western and other Asian nations for a few more years.

Japan is the only country to use the PDC format, so Japanese phones cannot be used overseas.
