Teleca commissioned by Sweden's leading mobile operatorsdate: June 16, 2002 Teleca has concluded an agreement with Hi3G, Orange Sverige, Vodafone and Svenska UMTS Nät (Telia and Tele2). The assignment is for a technical solution and a financial calculation designed to form a basis for decisions regarding the rollout of a 3G mobile telecommunication network within the Stockholm subway system. The data provided by Teleca will be used to analyze and compile such aspects as coverage, interaction, environmental requirements and technical implementation. During the feasibility study, Teleca will also function as an independent party in representing the operators' interests in all 3G issues. "Teleca's feasibility study will provide us with guidance in decisions regarding how we can pursue the Stockholm subway system project in the best and fastest manner. We believe that this approach will result in maximum synergies for the operators and for Storstockholms Lokaltrafik (the owner of Stockholm's subway system) in the future. We selected Teleca as the supplier because its tender satisfied the requirements we placed," says Jens Nilsen, Operator Coordinator for the Stockholm subway system project. "This assignment further strengthens Teleca's position as a leading supplier of systems for the next generation of mobile networks," says Markus Enholm, Telecom Manager within the Teleca subsidiary Teleca System Design. "The fact that all of Sweden's 3G operators have shown us their confidence is extremely stimulating. The major challenge represented by the subway project is that the amount of space is very limited, resulting in considerable demands in terms of cooperation and the need for space-efficient equipment."
