3G rollout will increase revenue for Hutchison

Agnes Nardi, MD of Hutchison's HK Hutchison Telecom unit, told the press that launch of 3G services later this year will increase unit's data income to 25% of revenues in next few years from 5% now, as 3G will be big data growth driver.

Unit is HK's most aggressive 3G player; it will rollout network by end of this year, outpacing rivals with rollouts planned in 2003 or 2004.

"We are riding on the Hutchison Whampoa's group's global 3G development," Nardi adds, "which gives us a lot of synergies for sure."
