Orange threatens to cut investmentdate: June 24, 2002 Orange UK is threatening to cut its investment in the new generation of mobile phones unless the UK telecom watchdogs back off. UK's largest mobile phone company said Oftel's decision to refer the charges levied on customers for receiving calls from other operators to the Competition Commission could undermine one of the most profitable parts of its business. Orange and other operators have gambled billions on buying licenses for 3G phones. "If you take a chunk of money out of our business that's going to affect us, " said Peter Dunn, Orange's director of regulatory strategy. " You will not see any immediate move but you could see a slowdown in our roll-out plans."
