France is the best nation for next-generation networksdate: June 27, 2002 France is considered as the most promising market for 3G mobile operators in Western Europe, according to a new report from benchmark-it, a telecoms consultancy. France is followed by the UK, then Spain, Belgium and the Netherlands. Although the French have awarded just two 3G licences so far, the market is seen as particularly attractive because of its considerable size, favourable regulatory environment and small number of existing operators. The firm added that the entire Western European mobile market was worth about EUR 93 billion last year, representing 30 per cent of the total telecoms market.
