Nextreaming licenses Hutchison 3G Austria 3GPP encoder solution

June 18, 2003

Hutchison 3G Austria, the first mobile multimedia provider in Austria, provides its video solution based on Nextreaming’s industry standard software applications.

Nextreaming, a provider of MPEG-4 solutions to the world’s mobile market, has rich applications such as Nexencoder providing the highest level of encoding quality and interoperability. They also provide real-time and offline encoding depending on carrier requirements.

Nextreaming products support a higher quality picture over GPRS and UMTS networks because of their optimization for low bandwidth applications and integration into existing carrier networks. Nextreaming has participated in IMTC interoperability since its inception and in 3GPP standardization activities to ensure its solution is cross-platform compatible and satisfies specific carrier requirements.

“Nextreaming encoders provide an important advantage to our company,” says Berthold Thoma, CEO of Hutchison 3G Austria. “This permits our users to receive the highest quality video experience possible over the most advanced mobile network in Austria.”

Nextreaming’s carrier grade encoders have been integrated into Hutchison 3G Austria’s production facilities so that content can be easily received, compressed, and automatically distributed near real-time without sacrificing quality. This permits Hutchison 3G Austria to generate new revenue streams by providing video services. Content such as sports clips can be viewed a few minutes after the event ends, providing Hutchison 3G Austria users a richer experience than other mobile operators.

“We are honored to be selected as the video encoder solution for Hutchison 3G Austria,” says Dr. Il-Taek Lim, CEO of Nextreaming, “The 3G market is just beginning and this confirms that carriers such as Hutchison 3G Austria already realize quality and reliability are necessary in order to realize revenue through video applications.”

Nextreaming’s encoders are a part of the complete Nextreaming solution for mobile operators, handset manufacturers, and content providers. Nextreaming platform conforms to ISO MPEG-4, 3GPP, 3GPP2 and ISMA standards for transport and file formats. Together they provide mobile solutions to the real-world deployments in Asia and Europe.
