3 launch video game review service

June 3, 2004

3, the UK's first video mobile network, announced the launch of a mobile content service with Gamer.tv to provide video reviews of the latest releases to hit the exciting world of computer and video games.

The video clips, which are a world first, will be exclusively designed for use on 3's video mobiles and can be accessed through 'Today on 3', the interactive mobile news and entertainment channel.

Gamer.tv, which becomes 3's latest partner site to go live, will maximize its television expertise to create a range of exciting, short video clips of video game reviews and features on a weekly basis. This cutting-edge computer games video content will enhance the existing 'Games' service on 3. The new service will see five game reviews and five previews of games available to 3 customers at a time, with over two updates a week. Outside of an add-on, each review will cost 70p to watch.

"This service allows 3's customers to access timely and relevant games reviews when and where they need them, especially in-store when considering which computer game to buy. It puts the power to make informed decisions in the customer's hand, quite literally,' commented Chris Noone, Director of Business Development, Gamer.tv. 'The launch of this service perfectly demonstrates Gamer.tv's ability to create exciting video content and deliver it to a range of connected devices."

Graeme Oxby, Marketing Director 3 UK said: "Gamer.tv is our latest partner site to launch on 'Today on 3' the UK's first live video mobile news and entertainment channel. Partner sites are an important part of 3's content strategy going forward and Gamer.tv is great news for our fanatical gaming customers, as well those who just want the reviews of the latest games available on the highstreet. Games are a popular part of our range of video mobile services and we expect to see this continuing to grow with the launch of Gamer.tv's review service."
