ACCESS and Infineon facilitate rapid deployment of 3G handsets
June 30, 2005
ACCESS, a provider of mobile content delivery and Internet access technologies, announced that it has entered into collaboration with Infineon Technologies to facilitate the development and deployment of next generation mobile handsets worldwide. Under the terms of the agreement ACCESS will work with Infineon to bring state-of-the art mobile browsing and mobile Java functionality through its advanced NetFront Mobile Client Suite to Infineon's APOXI application framework and Multimedia Mobile Phone Platforms powered by the S-Gold base band processor family. The collaboration with ACCESS further reinforces Infineon's ability to provide mobile handset manufacturers worldwide with comprehensive solutions that streamline the development and deployment of 2.5G and 3G mobile handsets.
Infineon's Multimedia Mobile phone platform enables manufacturers of next generation multimedia handsets to develop highly optimized handsets that range from consumer handsets with entertainment features including Java-enabled gaming, location and navigation features, HiFi music and polyphonic ring tones up to business handsets with video streaming, email, touch-screens, and connectivity technologies. Infineon's APOXI application framework enables rapid development of Man Machine Interfaces (MMIs) and integration of applications for mobile communications devices. APOXI is deployed in a wide range of media-rich handsets worldwide and was designed to meet the special requirements of mobile, embedded devices and provides specific, open APIs.
ACCESS' NetFront Mobile Client Suite is a highly integrated, modular, and extensible mobile Internet browser and communications solution that dramatically reduces integration costs for mobile handset manufacturers deploying advanced Internet-enabled handsets. Netfront Mobile Client Suite together with Infineon's Multimedia Mobile Phone Platforms and APOXI application framework provides mobile handset manufacturers with a comprehensive and seamless solution that reduces development costs while delivering a rapid deployment path for their 2.5G and 3G multimedia mobile handsets.
"We are pleased to collaborate with Infineon to provide a comprehensive and powerful solution for mobile handset manufacturers targeting the 2.5G and 3G market," said Toru Arakawa, president and CEO of ACCESS.
