HYUNDAI ELEC. DEVELOPS 8M SRAM FOR 3G HANDSETS

date: 11th March 2001, source by: e-insite.net

Hyundai Electronics Industries announced on Wednesday that it will mass produce 8M SRAMs for third generation (3G) mobile terminals starting next month.

Officials from the company said it has completed development of 8M SRAMs for the IMT-2000 handsets. The prototype memory chip measures 0.18 microns in width and holds low electricity.

Hyundai said it adopted CSP (chip scale package) technology and lowered a product size by 40%. In addition, the firm anticipates robust chip sales as IMT-2000 products are expected to lead the next-generation mobile market.
