Idetic Enables 3G Speeds Over Existing Networks

date: 12th March 2001, source by: Business Wire

Idetic, Inc., providers of software and services that improve the performance of the wireless Internet, today announced the Alpha version of Far Reach(TM), the company's first network and bandwidth optimization product. With Far Reach(TM), Idetic has demonstrated the ability to provide 3G-like speeds over existing wireless networks, promising both an improved wireless Internet experience today and lower build-out costs for future 3G expansion.

Idetic's Far Reach(TM) product incorporates a collection of intelligent network and bandwidth optimization technologies that dramatically improve wireless Internet browsing speeds while providing access to richer content. Far Reach(TM) monitors every stage of wireless data delivery to make content-specific network optimization adjustments on the fly. Early Far Reach(TM) trials demonstrate a consistent reduction in data traffic by a factor of more than 4 to 1. The result is a significantly improved browsing experience that guarantees the fastest possible data delivery.

Far Reach(TM) enables carriers to provide 3G-like browsing speeds on existing network infrastructures, as well as reduce build-out costs of future 3G network roll-outs. In either case, Idetic technology provides significant relief to wireless carriers taxed with massive network expansion costs and licensing fees.

According to Dr. Phillip Alvelda, CEO of Idetic, "Given the financial hurdles carriers face today, technologies that substantially decrease their expansion costs or make better use of their existing infrastructure are a huge priority. Demand for integration and customization of our technologies is really ramping up from content providers all the way to wireless network operators."
