date: 13th March 2001, source by: telecomasia.net

Nokia has set up its first 3G applications center in Hong Kong to accelerate development of end-to-end mobile multimedia applications in the city.

The center – the first of its kind in Hong Kong – is part of Nokia’s overall plan to support industry players, such as mobile network operators and service providers, in the creation of new mobile applications, the company said.

It offers a full-fledged test and development facility including various platform architectures and enabling technologies for mobile e-commerce, location services, mobile messaging, mobile entertainment, mobile Internet and billing solution with open protocols and application interfaces. Additionally, it is also equipped with mobile testing environments for 3G, GPRS and TETRA systems.

“As we see applications will drive the future growth of 3G, this new 3G application center will take a leading role in orchestrating the creation of mobile services in the region,” said Kenny Hung, manger, mobile Internet applications of Nokia Networks, Nokia (Hong Kong).
